I am a dancer and a scholar, a teacher and a learner. My home is on Vancouver Island, between the mountains and the sea, in the city of Nanaimo. I gratefully acknowledge that I live, work, and dance on the traditional unceded territory of the Snuneymuxw. ‘i’ cun ci:t Shqwalawun
I am a grandchild of immigrants, foreigners who arrived in Canada from Lebanon and from Scotland. My creative work, like my research and teaching in anthropology, explores relations between North America and the Middle East. In our globalizing world, I work in a boundary zone between disciplines and cultural geographies.
