About Lynette

In 30 plus years of Middle Eastern dance performance and teaching, Lynette Harper has developed a unique and inspiring style that goes beyond technique, to combine artistry with cultural understanding. She is a versatile and passionate dancer, regularly invited to perform in theatres and special events. Her dance is shaped by her Lebanese heritage, travels in the Middle East, and work with master teachers and star performers. Lynette is also an author and ethnographer, who sometimes teaches anthropology at VIU.

IN EVERY SESSION:  Body-friendly warm-ups, movement technique & vocabulary, music awareness essential to all Middle Eastern (Arab, Turkish) and fusion forms of bellydance.  In Art & Artistry we’ll create one or two dance pieces for solos or groups.  Each session stands alone, but the material & dances flow together – if you can attend more than one, you’ll gain more understanding & ability (and comfort with the dance pieces).
